OAS payment dates for 2026, with GIS, Allowance and current amounts
The next OAS payment date is Friday, September 25, 2026, followed by October 28, November 26 and December 22.
Next OAS payment date: September 25, 2026.
Last 2026 payment: December 22, 2026.
2027 OAS payment dates: Not yet announced (usually posted late in the year).
Yes. Service Canada adds the GIS to your OAS pension and pays them as one deposit.
The 2027 Old Age Security payment dates are not yet announced. On September 18, 2026, the Government of Canada benefits calendar shows 2026 only.
The amounts below are the maximums for July to September 2026. Most people receive less than the maximum because of partial residence, income or tax withholding.
When is the next OAS payment?
As of October 20, 2026, the next Old Age Security payment is on Wednesday, October 28. Three payments remain in 2026: October 28, November 26 and December 22. The October payment is the first one that includes the 1.4% cost-of-living increase for the October to December quarter, which raises the maximum OAS pension to $762.50 a month for ages 65 to 74 and $838.75 for 75 and over.
The December date is usually earlier than the rest of the pattern. In 2026 it falls on Tuesday, December 22, so that the money arrives before the Christmas closures.
Setting up or changing direct deposit
Direct deposit puts the money in your account on the payment date itself, while a cheque is still in the mail. You can sign up at any time, and the account can be in Canada, the United States or another participating country. In My Service Canada Account, open your OAS dashboard, choose Profile, then the option to manage your payment destination.
If you change banks, update the details before closing the old account. A payment sent to a closed account has to come back before it can be reissued, which delays it. People living outside Canada can view their information online but must contact Service Canada to change banking details.
Income tax is not deducted unless you ask
Service Canada does not automatically take income tax off the OAS pension. If you prefer not to owe a lump sum at tax time, you can ask for monthly federal tax deductions, and the deposit you see on each payment date will be smaller by that amount. The GIS portion is tax-free.
Are GIS and OAS paid together?
Yes. Service Canada adds the GIS to your OAS pension and pays them as one deposit. You will not see a second transaction for the supplement on the same day. Your bank statement shows a single federal pension amount that combines both.
The Allowance and the Allowance for the Survivor, which go to people aged 60 to 64, are paid on the same monthly schedule. Our GIS payment dates page covers the July renewal cycle and what happens if the supplement drops out of your deposit.
When are the 2027 OAS payment dates published?
The 2027 Old Age Security payment dates are not yet announced. On October 20, 2026, the Government of Canada benefits calendar still lists no 2027 dates. The next year's schedule has usually appeared late in the year, and we will add it here once it is posted.
Past schedules follow a clear pattern. OAS and CPP are paid in the last week of the month, usually on the third-last business day, and December is moved earlier. That pattern is a guide only. Do not plan a bill payment around a 2027 date until Service Canada publishes it.
Current OAS, GIS and Allowance amounts
The amounts below are the maximums for October to December 2026. Most people receive less than the maximum because of partial residence, income or tax withholding. For the reasons your own deposit is lower, see how much OAS is per month.

| Benefit | Who it is for | Maximum per month | Income limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| OAS pension | Age 65 to 74 | $762.50 | Net world income in 2025 under $152,062 |
| OAS pension | Age 75 and over | $838.75 | Net world income in 2025 under $157,923 |
| GIS | Single, widowed or divorced | $1,138.90 | Under $23,112 |
| GIS | Partner receives full OAS | $685.56 | Combined under $30,528 |
| Allowance | Age 60 to 64, partner gets GIS | $1,448.06 | Combined under $42,768 |
| Allowance for the Survivor | Age 60 to 64, widowed | $1,726.18 | Under $31,152 |
The GIS table has two more couple categories, including partners who receive the Allowance. The full breakdown with income cut-offs is on our GIS amount page.
How OAS amounts change each quarter
OAS is reviewed four times a year, in January, April, July and October, and rises when the Consumer Price Index rises. If prices fall, payments stay the same rather than going down. This is different from CPP, which is adjusted once a year in January.
The July 2026 review added 1.2%, and the October 2026 review added another 1.4% for October to December 2026, a 3.0% increase over the year from October 2025. That took the maximum OAS pension for ages 65 to 74 from $751.97 to $762.50 a month. The January to March 2027 rates have not been announced yet. Read how the OAS increase is calculated for the CPI method and the January 2027 status.
OAS clawback basics
If your net world income passes a set threshold, you repay 15 cents of OAS for every dollar above it. The threshold was $93,454 for 2025 income, which sets the deductions taken from July 2026 to June 2027 payments. The repayment is taken off your monthly deposit, so a smaller payment on the usual date can be the clawback rather than an error.
The mechanics, worked examples and the form to ask for lower deductions are explained in our OAS clawback guide.
What to do if your OAS payment does not arrive
A late deposit is usually a bank timing issue or a change on your file. Work through these checks before you contact Service Canada.
- Confirm the date against the 2026 table above. A payment is not late until after the listed day.
- Allow a few business days, as Canada.ca advises, and longer for a mailed cheque.
- Sign in to My Service Canada Account and check your payment details and the banking information on file.
- Check whether you recently moved, changed banks, left Canada for more than 6 months or missed the April 30 tax filing deadline. Each of these can pause or change payments.
- If nothing explains it, contact Service Canada using the contact page linked from the OAS section of canada.ca.
Our guide to an OAS payment that is late goes through each cause in more detail.

Common questions
What day of the month is OAS deposited?
There is no fixed calendar day. OAS is paid on a business day in the last week of most months, from the 25th to the 29th in 2026, and on December 22 in December.
Is OAS paid on the same day as CPP?
Yes. In 2026 the OAS and CPP payment dates are identical for all 12 months, so both deposits usually arrive together.
Why did my OAS come on a different day than my friend's?
Everyone is issued on the same date, but banks post deposits at different times and cheques travel by mail. A deposit that appears a day or two later is usually a bank processing difference.
Is there an OAS payment in December 2026?
Yes. The December 2026 payment is issued on Tuesday, December 22, earlier than usual because of the holidays. There is no extra or 13th payment.
Do I get OAS the month I turn 65?
No. Your first payment is for the month after you turn 65, or the start date you chose if you delayed the pension.
Will the 2027 OAS dates be different?
The exact 2027 dates are not yet announced. They are expected to follow the same end-of-month pattern, but the specific days change every year with weekends and holidays.
