Short answer

Revenu Québec pays the solidarity tax credit, including its QST component, for July 2026 to June 2027 on these monthly dates: July 3, August 5, September 4, October 5, November 5 and December 4, 2026, and January 5, February 5, March 5, April 5, May 5 and June 4, 2027. What is the Quebec solidarity tax credit?

The Quebec solidarity tax credit is a refundable tax credit that Revenu Québec pays to low- and middle-income households in Quebec. It is a provincial program, so it does not come from the Canada Revenue Agency and is never added to the federal Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, the former GST/HST credit, even though both help with day-to-day costs.

The credit is built from three components that are added together and then reduced as family income rises:

  • the QST component, which offsets Quebec sales tax;
  • the housing component, for people living in an eligible dwelling; and
  • the component for individuals living in a northern village.

People in low-rental housing (HLM) can still claim, but Revenu Québec counts only the QST component and, where it applies, the northern village component.

When is the solidarity tax credit paid in Quebec?

Revenu Québec pays solidarity tax credit instalments for the July 2026 to June 2027 period in the first five days of each payment month, on the dates in its published calendar below. How often you are paid depends on the size of your yearly credit, not on your choice.

Most deposits land on the 5th. When the 5th falls on a weekend, the payment comes on the Friday before, which is why July, September and December 2026 and June 2027 are paid on the 3rd or 4th. Quarterly instalments are paid in the first five days of July, October, January and April. The date and amount of your last direct deposit appear in the solidarity tax credit service in My Account for individuals, which is the quickest way to confirm a payment was sent. The federal credit follows its own calendar; see CGEB payment dates.

Worked example

A tenant in Trois-Rivières whose credit works out to $600 for the year falls in the quarterly tier and receives about $150 in the first days of July, October, January and April. If the same person's credit were $900, it would switch to twelve monthly deposits of about $75.

Quebec solidarity tax credit eligibility: who qualifies?

You may qualify for the July 2026 to June 2027 period if, on December 31, 2025, you met all of these conditions set by Revenu Québec:

  1. You were 18 or older, or under 18 and had a spouse, were the parent of a child living with you, or were a court-recognized emancipated minor.
  2. You were resident in Quebec.
  3. You or your spouse was a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or protected person, or a temporary resident or permit holder who had lived in Canada for the previous 18 months.

Who is not eligible

  • People confined to a prison on December 31, 2025 who spent more than 183 days in custody in 2025.
  • Anyone for whom Retraite Québec paid the Family Allowance for December 2025, unless they turned 18 that month.
  • Couples in which both spouses were refugee protection claimants on December 31, 2025.

The December 31 rule means a move, birth or new relationship during 2026 changes nothing until the July 2027 period. The one related program to watch is the Family Allowance: a 17-year-old still covered by it cannot also claim the solidarity credit.

What is the income limit for the solidarity tax credit?

If your family income is at or above the maximum for your situation, you receive nothing. Family income is line 275 of your Quebec return, plus your spouse's line 275 if you had a spouse on December 31, 2025. Each child for whom Family Allowance was paid for December 2025 raises the limit by $2,634.

Family situation on December 31, 2025Basic limitExample with two children
Individual without a spouse$64,545Not applicable
Single-parent family$64,545 + $2,634 per child$69,813
Individual with a spouse$70,395 + $2,634 per child$75,663

These are cut-off points, not the income where the reduction begins. Revenu Québec's online Solidarity Tax Credit Payments Estimator gives a personal estimate, and residents of a northern village skip the table and simply complete Schedule D.

How to claim the credit and set up direct deposit with Revenu Québec

Claim the credit by completing Schedule D of your Quebec income tax return (TP-1) or through My Account for individuals. If you skip Schedule D, Revenu Québec pays only the basic and spousal amounts of the QST component and leaves out the housing component.

As a rule, the credit is paid only by direct deposit. You can register in My Account, through your bank's online service if it offers one, by sending a voided cheque showing your name and social insurance number with your return, or with form LM-3-V, Request for Direct Deposit. If Revenu Québec cannot deposit your July 2026 to June 2027 credit by January 1, 2030, you lose it.

Couples living together file one Schedule D for both spouses. If one spouse lives permanently in a CHSLD, each spouse files a separate Schedule D.

How this compares with credits outside Quebec

Other provinces pay their sales-tax or climate credits through the CRA. British Columbia's climate action tax credit, once paid with the federal GST/HST credit, ended in 2025; see BC climate action tax credit. BC families now rely mainly on the BC Family Benefit, which rides on the CCB.

Common questions

What day is the solidarity tax credit deposited?

Revenu Québec deposits it on the 5th of each payment month, or on the Friday before when the 5th falls on a weekend. The November 2026 payment is on November 5, the December payment on December 4 and the January 2027 payment on January 5.

When are the QST and GST payments in Quebec?

Quebec's QST relief is paid as the QST component of the solidarity tax credit, on the solidarity dates above. The federal GST/HST credit is a separate CRA payment now called the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB); in 2026 it was paid on January 5, April 2, July 3 and October 5.

Why do I get the solidarity tax credit quarterly instead of monthly?

Frequency depends on the size of your yearly credit. Credits of $241 to $799 are paid quarterly, and only credits of $800 or more are paid monthly.

Can I get the solidarity tax credit without direct deposit?

As a rule, no. Revenu Québec requires direct deposit and asks people without a bank account to contact it.

Is the solidarity tax credit based on my 2025 or 2026 situation?

Payments from July 2026 to June 2027 use your situation on December 31, 2025 and your 2025 family income. Changes during 2026 count from July 2027.

I forgot Schedule D. Can I still claim the full credit?

Yes. Send a completed Schedule D with form TP-1.R-V or use My Account. You generally have until December 31 of the fourth year after the tax year concerned.
