How much is CCB per child in 2026-27
Short answer
How much is CCB per child? From July 2026 to June 2027, the Canada Child Benefit pays up to $8,157 a year ($679.75 a month) for each child under 6 and up to $6,883 a year ($573.58 a month) for each child aged 6 to 17. Those maximums apply when adjusted family net income is $38,237 or less; above that, the amount shrinks.

How much is CCB per child: maximums by age
The CCB pays a higher rate for younger children. The CRA tracks each child's age during the year, and the rate moves to the 6-to-17 level from the month after the 6th birthday instead of waiting for the next July. For example, a child who turns 6 in March 2027 is paid at the under-6 rate for March and at the 6-to-17 rate from April 2027.
| Age of child | Yearly maximum | Monthly maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Under 6 | $8,157 | $679.75 |
| 6 to 17 | $6,883 | $573.58 |
| Extra if eligible for the disability tax credit | $3,480 | $290 |

The difference between the two age bands is $1,274 a year, or about $106 a month. A family whose youngest child turns 6 this winter will see its payment drop by roughly that amount per month, even if nothing else changes.
How much is CCB per month once income is counted?
Very few families receive the maximum, because it only applies when adjusted family net income (AFNI) is $38,237 or less. AFNI is both partners' net income from line 23600 of their returns for the base year. Payments from July 2026 to June 2027 use 2025 income.
The reduction depends on the total number of children in the family, not on each child's age. The CRA works out the full amount for all children first, then subtracts one reduction for the family.
| Children | AFNI $38,237 to $82,847 | AFNI over $82,847 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 7% of income over $38,237 | $3,123 + 3.2% of income over $82,847 |
| 2 | 13.5% of income over $38,237 | $6,022 + 5.7% of income over $82,847 |
| 3 | 19% of income over $38,237 | $8,476 + 8% of income over $82,847 |
| 4 or more | 23% of income over $38,237 | $10,260 + 9.5% of income over $82,847 |
The fixed amounts in the right-hand column are simply the full reduction a family has already reached at $82,847. That is why the benefit falls quickly in the middle income range and more slowly above it.
Canada Child Benefit amount per child: four worked examples
These examples use the official 2026-27 figures above and round to the nearest cent. Your actual payment can differ if your custody arrangement, marital status or a child's age changes during the year.
Example 1: three children, income $30,000
Children aged 2, 5 and 12. Income is under the first threshold, so there is no reduction. Full amount: $8,157 + $8,157 + $6,883 = $23,197 a year, or $1,933.08 a month.
Example 2: two children, income $60,000
Children aged 3 and 8. Full amount: $8,157 + $6,883 = $15,040. Income over the first threshold is $21,763, and 13.5% of that is $2,938.01. The family gets $12,101.99 a year, or $1,008.50 a month, which works out to about $504 per child.
Example 3: one child, income $100,000
One child aged 10. Full amount: $6,883. Income over the second threshold is $17,153, and 3.2% of that is $548.90, so the reduction is $3,123 + $548.90 = $3,671.90. The family gets $3,211.10 a year, or $267.59 a month.
Example 4: four children, income $150,000
Children aged 1, 4, 7 and 11. Full amount: $8,157 x 2 + $6,883 x 2 = $30,080. Income over $82,847 is $67,153; 9.5% of that is $6,379.54, so the reduction is $16,639.54. The family still receives $13,440.46 a year, or $1,120.04 a month.

Why your CCB per child is lower than the maximum
If your deposit is smaller than the table suggests, one of these reasons usually explains it. Your notice of determination or redetermination shows the income figure and the number of children the CRA used.
- Your 2025 family income was above $38,237, so the reduction applies.
- The CRA added a spouse or common-law partner's income after you reported a change in marital status.
- You share custody, so you receive half of the full-time amount for that child.
- A child turned 6, which moves that child to the lower rate.
- An earlier overpayment is being recovered from your current payments.
- You or your partner has not filed a 2025 return, which can stop payments altogether.

Child Disability Benefit on top of the CCB
A child who qualifies for the disability tax credit adds up to $3,480 a year, or $290 a month, to the family's CCB for July 2026 to June 2027. It is paid in the same deposit. The CRA starts paying it once an approved Form T2201 is on file for the child.
Using Example 2, if the 8-year-old qualified, the family would receive up to about $1,298.50 a month instead of $1,008.50, subject to the income test that also applies to the disability amount at higher incomes. The Child Disability Benefit page explains eligibility.
CCB payment amounts by year
The per-child maximums change every July with inflation. Figures for July 2025 to June 2026 below are calculated from the Government of Canada's July 2026 statement that maximums rose by $160 (under 6) and $135 (6 to 17).
| Benefit year | Under 6 | 6 to 17 |
|---|---|---|
| July 2025 to June 2026 | $7,997 | $6,748 |
| July 2026 to June 2027 | $8,157 | $6,883 |
| July 2027 to June 2028 | Not yet announced (expected November 2026) | Not yet announced (expected November 2026) |
The July 2027 figures are not out yet. The CRA lists each year's CCB maximums and income thresholds in its indexation chart: the 2026 column, indexed by 2.0%, holds the amounts paid from July 2026, and the 2027 column, expected in November 2026, will set the amounts paid from July 2027 to June 2028. Those payments will be based on your 2026 family income, so filing your 2026 return on time keeps them flowing. Our CCB increase page tracks the announcement, and the Canada Child Benefit guide covers eligibility and applying.
Common questions
How much is CCB for a child under 6?
Up to $8,157 a year, or $679.75 a month, from July 2026 to June 2027. That full amount requires adjusted family net income of $38,237 or less.
How much is CCB for a child aged 6 to 17?
Up to $6,883 a year, or $573.58 a month, for July 2026 to June 2027, before any income-based reduction.
How much is CCB per month for 2 kids?
At most $1,359.50 a month for two children under 6, $1,253.33 for one under 6 and one aged 6 to 17, or $1,147.16 for two aged 6 to 17. Above $38,237 of family income, 13.5% of the excess is subtracted each year.
Does the CCB go down when my child turns 6?
Yes. The payment for that child drops from the under-6 rate to the 6-to-17 rate, a difference of about $106 a month, from the month after the 6th birthday rather than at the next July recalculation.
Is there an income limit where CCB stops completely?
There is no single cut-off; it depends on the number and ages of your children. For one child aged 6 to 17, the benefit reaches zero at roughly $200,000 of family income, and more children push that point higher.
Did the CCB amount change in July 2026?
Yes. Starting with the July 20, 2026 payment, the maximums rose by $160 to $8,157 a year for a child under 6 and by $135 to $6,883 for ages 6 to 17, and each family's amount was recalculated using 2025 income. That monthly amount stays the same through June 2027 unless your family situation changes; the next deposits are November 20 and December 11, 2026.
How much will the CCB be in July 2027?
It is not announced yet. The maximums for July 2027 to June 2028 come from the CRA's 2027 indexation figures, expected in November 2026, and your own amount will be based on your 2026 adjusted family net income. Until June 2027, the July 2026 amounts on this page apply.
