CPP disability payment dates in 2026

The CPP disability benefit is paid once a month on the regular Canada Pension Plan date. There is no separate calendar for disability, so the CPP disability benefit payment dates below match the retirement pension exactly.

Three CPP disability payments remain in 2026: October 28, November 26 and December 22. Anyone paid by cheque should allow a few extra days, since Service Canada mails CPP disability cheques during the last three business days of the month.

When is the next CPP disability payment date?

As of October 20, 2026, the next CPP disability payment date is Wednesday, October 28, 2026. After that come Thursday, November 26 and Tuesday, December 22, the last payment of the year.

The Canada pension disability payment dates for 2027 have not been posted. Service Canada usually publishes the next year's calendar late in the year. Until then, the January 2027 date is not official, and we list it on our CPP payment dates hub as soon as it appears.

CPP disability amounts for 2026

Each payment has two parts. There is a flat basic amount, which is $610.46 a month in 2026, plus an amount based on how much you contributed to CPP during your working years. Together they reach a maximum of $1,741.20 a month.

CPP disability-related monthly amounts, 2026
BenefitAverage (new, April 2026)Maximum
CPP disability benefit$1,234.68$1,741.20
Post-retirement disability benefit$610.46$610.46
Disabled contributor's child's benefit (per child)$307.81$307.81
Survivor's pension combined with disability benefit$1,335.78$1,756.14

The post-retirement disability benefit is for people already receiving a CPP retirement pension who become disabled before 65. The detailed calculation, including how contributions shape the earnings-based part, is on our CPP disability amount page. The January indexation that lifts these figures is covered in CPP increase 2027.

Children's benefit is paid on the same date

If you receive CPP disability and have dependent children, each child may qualify for the disabled contributor's child's benefit of $307.81 a month in 2026. It arrives on the same day as your disability payment.

  • For a child under 18, the benefit is paid to you or to the person with decision-making responsibility for the child.
  • For a child aged 18 to 25 in school full time, it is paid directly to the child. Part-time students receive half, $153.91.
  • Apply for a child under 18 with form ISP1152, or in section F of the disability application ISP1151. Students aged 18 to 25 use form ISP1402.
  • A child can receive at most two CPP children's benefits, for example if one parent is disabled and the other has died.

CPP disability vs Canada Disability Benefit payment dates

People often mix up these two programs because both are federal and both are run by Service Canada. They are separate benefits with separate rules, and they arrive on different days.

Every 2026 Canada Disability Benefit date falls on the third Thursday of the month, 6 to 13 days before the CPP disability date. Receiving one does not stop you from receiving the other, but CPP disability counts as income when the CDB income test is applied. See our Canada Disability Benefit guide for its eligibility and amounts.

Rules that can change your payment date or amount

Your first payment

There is a four-month waiting period: payments begin four months after your disability is considered to have become severe and prolonged. Service Canada can pay up to 11 months of back payments counted from the date it received your application, so the first deposit may be larger than later ones.

Working while on CPP disability

In 2026 you must contact Service Canada once your earnings reach $7,400 before tax. Earnings between $7,400 and $20,971.44 may affect your benefit, and earnings of $20,971.45 or more will likely mean you are no longer eligible. You must also report volunteering or schooling that adds up to more than 15 hours a week for four months or longer.

Turning 65

At 65, CPP disability automatically changes into a CPP retirement pension. The payment date does not change, but the amount is usually lower. At that point you may qualify for Old Age Security and the Guaranteed Income Supplement, which are paid on the same day.

Missing CPP disability payment: what to do

  1. Check that you are looking at the right program. A missing deposit in the middle of the month (the 2026 Canada Disability Benefit dates) is a CDB issue, not CPP.
  2. Confirm the CPP date for that month in the table above and allow a few business days if you are paid by cheque.
  3. Sign in to My Service Canada Account to confirm the payment status and the bank account on file.
  4. Check your mail for a letter asking about work, earnings or a medical reassessment. An unanswered request can pause payments.
  5. If the payment is still missing, contact the Canada Pension Plan through the contact page on canada.ca.

If you also receive a survivor's pension, read how the two combine on our CPP survivor benefit page, since the combined maximum is lower than the two added together.

Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The Canada Disability Benefit is paid earlier that month, on October 15.

Will CPP disability go up in January 2027?

CPP disability is indexed every January along with all other CPP benefits, based on the change in the average Consumer Price Index for November 2025 to October 2026 compared with the previous 12 months. The January 2027 increase has not been announced yet; in January 2026, CPP benefits rose 2.0%.

How many months of back pay does CPP disability give?

Up to 11 months of payments before the date Service Canada received your application, subject to the four-month waiting period.
