Canada Disability Benefit payment dates in 2026

Service Canada issues Canada Disability Benefit payments on the third Thursday of each month, and the 2026 calendar on Canada.ca lists all 12 dates below (checked October 20, 2026). Every date falls on a Thursday, including December, so the CDB does not move earlier for the holidays the way some other benefits do.

The July 16, 2026 payment was the first one at the new maximum of $204.20. The September 17 payment date was also when the first one-time $150 supplemental payments were issued, as explained on the CDB supplemental payment page.

Is the CDB paid on the same day as CPP disability?

No. The Canada Disability Benefit and the CPP disability benefit are separate programs with separate schedules. CPP disability is paid with other CPP and OAS benefits in the last week of the month, while the CDB lands mid-month.

If you receive both, you will see two federal deposits from Service Canada each month, roughly one to two weeks apart. The full CPP calendar is on CPP disability payment dates.

When is my first CDB payment after approval?

Your first Canada Disability Benefit payment is issued on the third Thursday of the month following your approval, according to Canada.ca. That first deposit includes any back payments owed.

For example, if your approval letter is dated October 6, 2026, your first payment would be expected on November 19, 2026. If the approval is dated late in October, the answer is the same, because it is the month of approval that counts, not the number of days. The rules for how many months that first deposit can cover are on CDB back pay.

Canada Disability Benefit payment dates 2027: are they out?

Not yet. As of October 20, 2026, Canada.ca shows only 2026 dates, and the next year's calendar is usually posted late in the year. The table below is our projection, not an official schedule.

Method: Canada.ca states the CDB is paid on the third Thursday of each month, and every 2026 date matches that rule. We applied the same rule to the 2027 calendar. If Service Canada adjusts any date, the official calendar wins.

The benefit amount for payments from July 2027 will depend on the next July inflation adjustment and on your 2026 tax return. That rate is not yet announced; see the CDB amount page for the current $204.20 maximum.

What to do if a CDB payment is missing

Canada.ca says benefit payments are issued on the listed date but can take a few days to arrive, especially by cheque. Before contacting anyone, work through the checks below.

  1. Confirm the date: compare with the 2026 table above, not with CPP or CCB dates.
  2. Check your bank account on the Friday and following Monday, since some banks post federal deposits a day late.
  3. Look for a Service Canada letter. Payments can stop if you did not reply to a request, moved without updating your address, your income rose, or you did not file your return by April 30.
  4. Check your DTC. The CDB requires an approved Disability Tax Credit, and a certificate with an end date can expire.
  5. Make sure you and your spouse or partner filed a 2025 return; the CDB for July 2026 onward depends on it.
  6. If none of that explains it, contact Service Canada through the Canada Disability Benefit page.

The June confirmation letter Service Canada sends each year states your amount for the new July to June period, so keep it. Broader missing-deposit steps for other programs are on benefit payment not received, and the overview of the program is on the Canada Disability Benefit hub. Newfoundland and Labrador residents also get a provincial payment on a different day, listed on NL disability benefit.

Common questions

What day of the month is the Canada Disability Benefit paid?

The third Thursday. In 2026 that means dates range from the 15th to the 21st of the month.

When is the next CDB payment?

The October 2026 payment was issued on Thursday, October 15, 2026. The next payment is Thursday, November 19, 2026, followed by December 17.

Does the CDB come early in December?

No. The December 2026 payment is on Thursday, December 17, which is simply the third Thursday of that month.

Are 2027 Canada Disability Benefit payment dates published?

Not as of October 20, 2026. Applying the third-Thursday rule gives January 21, 2027 for the first payment, but treat that as a projection until Canada.ca posts the schedule.

Can I get the CDB by cheque?

Yes. Canada.ca lets you choose direct deposit or cheque, but direct deposit arrives faster and is not affected by mail delays.
