CRA payment dates for October 2026

October 2026 has seven separate payment days covering eight programs. Two quarterly programs return this month: the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB) and the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (ACWB). Every monthly program also pays.

Is there a GST or CGEB payment in October?

Yes. The October 5, 2026 deposit is the second payment under the new Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit name, which replaced the GST/HST credit in July 2026. The rules for who qualifies are unchanged, but the amounts for July 2026 to June 2027 are 25% higher than the old credit, and that increase is set to last until 2031.

How much the October CGEB can be

The CGEB is paid in four instalments, so each payment is one quarter of your yearly amount. The yearly maximums for July 2026 to June 2027 are $679 for a single person, $890 for a couple, and $234 for each child under 19. Those figures are based on your 2025 tax return.

Lower amounts apply once family net income passes the reduction threshold. If your quarterly amount would have been under $50, the CRA paid the full year in July and nothing arrived on October 5. When is CPP paid in October?

CPP is paid on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, together with OAS, the Guaranteed Income Supplement and both Allowance programs. CPP amounts do not change in October; the 2026 maximum retirement pension at 65 stays at $1,507.65 a month until the January 2027 increase.

The last ACWB payment of 2026

The October 9 ACWB deposit is the third and final advance payment of 2026, after January 12 and July 10. Advance payments cover up to half of your expected Canada Workers Benefit. You must report them on line 41500 of your 2026 return, using the RC210 slip the CRA sends. See the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit page before you file.

CCB and CDB

The CCB was paid on its usual date, Tuesday, October 20, and the Canada Disability Benefit, up to $204.20 a month for July 2026 to June 2027, was paid Thursday, October 15. The next CDB payment is November 19 and the next CCB payment is November 20.

What is different about October: CGEB, ACWB and OAS indexation

OAS is reviewed four times a year, in January, April, July and October, and the October 28 deposit is the first one at the October to December 2026 rate. That rate is 1.4% higher than July's: the maximum OAS is now $762.50 a month at ages 65 to 74 and $838.75 at 75 and over, up from $751.97 and $827.17 in July to September 2026. OAS rates never go down when prices fall.

GIS and the Allowance programs are indexed on the same quarterly cycle. For October to December 2026, the maximum GIS for a single senior is $1,138.90 a month, the Allowance is up to $1,448.06 and the Allowance for the Survivor is up to $1,726.18. Provincial payments in October

• Ontario: the OTB was paid Friday, October 9, because October 10 was a Saturday. The Ontario Child Benefit came with the October 20 CCB.
• Nova Scotia: the Affordable Living Tax Credit ($255 per individual or couple plus $60 per child) was paid with the October 5 CGEB.
• New Brunswick: the Harmonized Sales Tax Credit was paid with the CGEB on October 5.
• Newfoundland and Labrador: the NL Income Supplement and Seniors' Benefit come with the CGEB; the NL Disability Benefit is paid October 23.
• Saskatchewan: the Low-Income Tax Credit (family maximum $1,282 a year) is paid with the CGEB.
• Prince Edward Island: the sales tax credit is paid with the CGEB; it is being renamed the PEI Essentials Benefit from November 2026.
• Alberta: no ACFB in October; the next payment is November 27.

October 2027 dates

October 2027 dates are not yet announced; canada.ca normally posts the next year's calendar late in the year. Using only the published rules, we project the CCB on Wednesday, October 20, 2027, and the OTB on Friday, October 8, 2027, because October 10, 2027 falls on a Sunday. These are projections, not official dates.

If an October payment does not arrive

Thanksgiving falls on Monday, October 12, 2026. It does not move any payment date, but it does add a day to any waiting period you count in working days.

1. Check your CRA My Account (for the CGEB, OTB, ACWB, CCB and CDB) or My Service Canada Account (for CPP and OAS).
2. Wait the full period before calling: 10 working days for the CGEB, OTB and ACWB, and 5 working days for the CCB.
3. Count working days only. For the October 5 CGEB, skipping weekends and Thanksgiving, the tenth working day is Tuesday, October 20.
4. For the October 20 CCB, the fifth working day is Tuesday, October 27.
5. For CPP and OAS, canada.ca asks you to wait 5 to 10 business days before contacting the program.
6. Before calling, confirm your address and direct deposit details are current.
