What Service Canada pays

Service Canada delivers the federal pension programs and the Canada Disability Benefit. Unlike CRA credits, these payments start after you apply, or for OAS and GIS, often after automatic enrolment. The GIS, the Allowance and the Canada Disability Benefit are still income-tested using your tax return.

  • Canada Pension Plan: retirement pension, post-retirement benefit, disability benefit, survivor's pension and children's benefit. The CPP death benefit is a one-time lump sum of up to $2,500, so it has no monthly date.
  • Old Age Security: the OAS pension, the Guaranteed Income Supplement, the Allowance (ages 60 to 64) and the Allowance for the Survivor.
  • Canada Disability Benefit: up to $204.20 a month from July 2026 for working-age people with a Disability Tax Credit certificate who meet the income test.

Quebec residents receive the Quebec Pension Plan from Retraite Quebec instead of CPP, so the CPP dates below do not apply to QPP. OAS is still paid by Service Canada in Quebec. The QPP schedule is on the QPP payment dates page.

The dates below are the official 2026 issue dates. CPP and OAS share a date every month, so someone receiving CPP, OAS and GIS gets all three on the same day.

Two patterns stand out. CPP and OAS fall on the third-last business day of every month except December. The Canada Disability Benefit falls on the third Thursday of every month, December included. For why December is different, see December payment dates.

Veterans pensions are not Service Canada payments

The veteran disability pension appears on the same federal calendar but is paid by Veterans Affairs Canada. In 2026 it arrives one business day after CPP and OAS in every month except January (two business days later). In September 2026 that was Monday, September 28, because the 26th and 27th were a weekend.

CRA vs Service Canada: who pays what

CPP contributions are collected through payroll and the tax return, which is why CPP is often linked with the CRA. The CRA collects contributions; Service Canada pays the pension.

The difference decides who you contact. A missing Canada Child Benefit or Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit payment goes to the CRA; the CRA payment dates hub has those schedules. A missing CPP, OAS, GIS or Canada Disability Benefit payment goes to Service Canada, through the contact page for that program on Canada.ca.

Checking payments in My Service Canada Account

My Service Canada Account is the online account for CPP, OAS, the Canada Disability Benefit, Employment Insurance and the Canadian Dental Care Plan. It is separate from CRA My Account, which covers CRA benefits and your tax returns. EI itself is not on the fixed calendar: it is paid after each biweekly report, as explained on the EI payment dates page.

  1. Go to the My Service Canada Account page on Canada.ca and choose a sign-in method: Interac Sign-In Partner (your online banking login), GCKey, or a provincial sign-in in British Columbia or Alberta.
  2. Always use the same sign-in option you registered with, because your profile is tied to it.
  3. For CPP, expand the Canada Pension Plan section to see your benefit information and select View my tax slips.
  4. For OAS, expand the Old Age Security section, select Manage my benefits, then Tax slips.
  5. To have income tax taken off your CPP, use the Change my tax deductions link in the CPP section, or send form ISP3520CPP.

Early each year Service Canada issues a T4 slip for CPP and OAS income received the year before, or an NR4 slip if you do not live in Canada.

When the 2027 Service Canada dates will appear

The 2027 CPP, OAS and Canada Disability Benefit dates are not yet announced; they usually appear on Canada.ca late in the year. The CPP increase for January 2027 and the January to March 2027 OAS amounts are also not yet published. Follow the 2027 payment date tracker for the status of each.

If a payment date falls near a statutory holiday, the long weekend payment rules explain how the date can shift.

Common questions

Is CPP paid by CRA or Service Canada?

Service Canada pays CPP. The CRA only collects CPP contributions through payroll and tax returns, and pays tax-based benefits like the Canada Child Benefit.

What day of the month does Service Canada deposit OAS?

OAS is deposited on the same day as CPP, usually the third-last business day of the month. In 2026 the dates range from the 22nd in December to the 29th in July.

How do I see my CPP payment online?

Sign in to My Service Canada Account with Interac Sign-In Partner, GCKey or a BC or Alberta provincial sign-in, then expand the Canada Pension Plan section.

When is the Canada Disability Benefit paid each month?

On the third Thursday of the month. After the October 15 payment, the remaining 2026 dates are November 19 and December 17.

Does Service Canada pay Employment Insurance on these dates?

No. Employment Insurance is run by Service Canada but is not on the fixed monthly benefits calendar, so the dates on this page do not apply to it.
